In 2025, Black and Brown Founders Inc. showcased a steadfast dedication to entrepreneurial growth and inclusivity. The organization achieved substantial progress in both its internal development and external support for the community. A significant step forward was the addition of 15 new board members, bringing varied perspectives and expertise that strengthen the organization’s ability to fulfill its mission of empowering Black and Brown business owners nationwide.

Another major milestone was the approval of the SMART Money Program by the FDIC. This partnership has greatly enhanced the organization’s capacity to deliver impactful financial education and resources. As a result, Black and Brown Founders Inc. is better equipped to support small businesses, helping them overcome financial hurdles, establish sustainable operations, and build economic resilience.

Throughout the year, the organization awarded two $5,000 grants to exceptional small businesses. These recipients were chosen from a competitive pool of over 254 applicants, demonstrating the demand and entrepreneurial spirit within the community. The applicants represented a wide range of incomes, from $25,000 to more than $3,000,000, highlighting the diversity and breadth of talent. By providing these grants, Black and Brown Founders Inc. not only offered financial assistance but also recognized businesses that positively impact local economies and serve as inspiration to others.

Looking Ahead: 2026 Initiatives

Building on the successes of 2025, the organization plans to expand its grant program in 2026 will greatly help us by awarding more grants to more businesses in need. This increased investment will further broaden access to capital and opportunities for small businesses. The expanded program aims to foster innovation, promote job creation, and reinforce the foundation of Black and Brown entrepreneurship.

To also assist us in our efforts, Black and Brown Founders will utilize a small business assessment tool to better target the needs of entrepreneurs and help us be more productive in our distribution of funds.
