BBF SMART MONEY PROGRAM
Program Overview
The BBF Smart Money Program is a FDIC-approved initiative developed in partnership with Black and Brown Founders (BBF). It is purpose-built to dismantle systemic financial barriers that prevent underserved individuals and small businesses from achieving lasting economic stability and generational wealth.
By combining structured financial education, mentorship, and direct access to capital resources, Smart Money equips participants with the practical tools and knowledge to generate revenue, manage money effectively, and build resilient enterprises.
Statement of Need
Across the United States, underserved communities—particularly Black and Brown entrepreneurs, families, and small business owners—continue to face profound and persistent barriers to financial inclusion. These challenges are not incidental; they are structural:
Limited or no access to traditional banking and credit systems
Insufficient financial literacy and money management education
Lack of mentorship, strategic guidance, and growth capital
Systemic inequities that perpetuate cycles of economic disadvantage
Vulnerability to predatory lending and exploitative financial products
Without targeted, culturally competent intervention, these barriers restrict pathways to business ownership, personal financial freedom, and generational wealth. The Smart Money Program exists to change that—providing a structured, community-centered bridge from financial vulnerability to economic empowerment.
Investing in Smart Money means investing in the communities that fuel local economies, reduce inequality, and build the foundation for a more equitable society.
